On October 4, 2016 I took a visit to the Tulare County Public Social Services Branch to job shadow Brianna Ceja. While I was there I learned many things like what kind of services are provided for people who are in need of help and some necessities to work as a caseworker or Program Specialist. I chose to job shadow in this line of work because here they work for the people to help the people. When I begin working I want to help people who are struggling.
Welfare and Medical are two of the biggest services provided to the people by the Government business. While on this trip I learned that the Caseworkers help the people directly by reviewing cases and meeting with people to help them get back on their feet. Although I didn’t get to directly see what the meetings or cases are like due to privacy issues. I did get to meet with some of the Employees and hear about what it is like to meet with people. The job of the Program Specialist is to manage the caseworkers and help them with any issues or problems that they are having. It is also their job to deal with complicated cases that need extra help or more assistance.
One thing that I really enjoyed about this visit was that I got the opportunity to see the caseworkers try their best to help people get back on their feet through these programs. I enjoyed being behind the scenes and seeing how this whole system works and see how hard these people are working to help other people.
